The road to Lethbridge has hit a bump called the Spokane Chiefs
sonnavabitch. double-overtime again. Chiefs win 4-3 on a Judd Blackwater goal. And he shouldn't have even been in the game at that point (see below).
So do I start with the good points first then the let the ranting flow, or start off with the bad and try to end on a positive note?? or hows about I just throw it all out there, indicate emotion with a + or -. Is that clear enough??
+ Yay to first period shots on goal, AMS outshot Chiefs 16-3 in the first. Really took it to 'em, unfortunately left it at a 1-1 tie
- Chet letting in some soft goals AND the lack of support from the guys in front of him on some of those.
+ Penalty kill was outstanding once again.
+ Radek Meidl decided to show up. it's about fucking time.
- Judd Blackwater. His hit on Drew Hoff was brutal. It was textbook charging. Took several strides across the ice then left his feet and plowed into Drew with his elbows leading the way. There was no penalty on the play. Drew did not return. IMO, the turning point in the game. If Bob Tory has any sense at all (it is up for debate...) he will have the league review that shit ASAP. If that wasn't charging with intent to injure, then I don't know what the hell is.
+ Shaun Vey looked like he gave a shit. well, ok, not really, but more than some other games.
+ Pokey Reddick. Eric Mestery. Jarrett Toll. TJ Fast. Colton Yellowhorn. Blair Macaulay. Taylor Procyshen. even Brett Plouffe had pretty good games. ok, not even pretty good. had we won "pretty" wouldn't be in the sentence. They had a good game.
- Not Chet's best night in a long time. And shame on the boys for not stepping up and recognizing that and helping him out. He did get much better as the game went on.
+ Chet stopping the Devil Incarnate Drayson Bowman on a penalty shot!
- After the first, the forecheck declined. By OT the AMS were playing 5-on-5 hockey like on a penalty kill again (see games 1-3).
- Leaving Drayson Bowman open enough to have 2 goals and the breakaway that he probably scored on had TJ not taken him down which led to the penalty shot.
- Looking so tired, even before overtime. Why is that? Why didn't Chiefs look as tired?
I'm sure there is more, and when I think of them tomorrow I'll add them. If I missed anything, please leave me a comment!

I don't even know what to write. Blackwater's hit was brutal. And losing Hoff was HUGE. Never realized how important Hoff is to our success until he's missing. He's the heart and soul of our team. And losing him hurt. Took the wind out of our sails and we were never able to quite recover from it.
Sour grapes man... I'm not a fan of either team, just followed a link about the hit to see what was up... but your blog is ridiculous.
The guys feet never left the ground until after the hit, as the force knocked both players down... and his elbow was tucked in, that was all shoulder.
It's always unfortunate to lose a good player... but don't be biased in your assessment. It was a clean hit by any standards.
I followed the link from Yahoo! to here. Just wanted to see the actual blog post. Let me add my two cents in here. I agree that the hit was brutal, yes, and by rule it was charging, but if you will look closely at the video, the hitter did not go into the other guy "with his elbows leading the way", nor did he leave his feet until after contact was made.

FWIW, neither hit resulted in a penalty nor an ejection.
Brutal hit by Blackwater but not illegal. I watched the video several times over and he neither leaves his feet till after the hit nor does he take more than two strides when lining Hoff up for the check. He (Blackwater) also kept his elbow down and hit Hoff clean with his shoulder. Claiming it was intent to injue is rediculous as well since Hoff should not have been skating with his head down to begin with. Just accept that it was a good, clean hit. Why is that so hard to believe?
Why is it so hard to believe that I have a different opinion
Because... if your opinion isn't mine it is WRONG! And how DARE you disagree with the majority!
Whew, sorry about that.
The fact of the matter is that there are a few aspects to that hit that fall into what I consider a grey area, meaning it is really a judgement call left up to the refs. So, the judgement call on that hit was no penalty and in turn Blackwater ended up with the game winner. Last night the judgement call of the ref who lost sight of the puck and blew his whistle cost Spokane a goal. Tough break for both teams but that kind of shit happens.
Wow, you don’t know anything about hockey, I admire the fact that you’re a fan though, just don’t go off trying to pretend you know what your talking about. There’s no gray area in this hit. Blackwater stops skating before he starts to turn to go behind the net and before Hoff goes behind the net. Blackwater also does not leave his feet until the force of the hit knocks him over, and the last point, his elbow is down tucked to his body on contact. Textbook clean check and that’s saying a lot because usually there is some judgment call, but not in this case, complete textbook.
The reason a fan who doesn’t know the rules, or anything about hockey other than it’s a great game would think this was a penalty is Blackwater’s shoulder hits Hoff in the face. This is NOT a penalty. Again not to belabor the point but someone who has even a small amount of knowledge about hockey knows there is a few things drilled into hockey players from an early age, don’t pass in front of your net, and don’t skate with your HEAD DOWN. Eric Lindros’s career was cut short because he skated with his head down to many times.
Free tip for you about the Ams looking more tired the the Chiefs, the Ams use less lines than the Chiefs and over a long series with lots of games in OT will have an affect, but then if you knew something about the game you wouldn’t have had to ask the question.

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
suck it.
and a free tip right back at ya: rhetorical questions don't require an answer. Maybe you just didn't realize that because your brain is filled with SO much more hockey knowledge than mine.
