Now THAT was a game

I don't know if it was because of more vets on the ice (Lazo, Schmidt, NOT McIntosh) or because it was Spokane, but boys came to play last night and kicked ass.

Truth time--it was the "I believe in Drew Owsley" sign and you know it.

I'm in a hungover haze, but I do know a couple things:

  • I like that Sergei Drozd. Skates well, moves the puck very well. I like.
  • Again, Brooks Macek is a stud.
  • Didn't see as much of Jordan Messier last night, not sure what was up with that.
  • I never ever in a million years thought I would say this, but I'm glad Schmidt is back.
  • I hate the Spokane Chiefs and their goalie-running ways.
Look, I remember the days when the AMS were a bunch of mediocre talented guys and a bunch of goons. I detested it. And no I'm not one of those "The AMS are perfect angels all the time" bullshitters. But holy crap Chiefs, lay off our goalies. Where was I? Oh yes, a list.
  • Kruise was less invisible last night, that is good.
  • OMG Spencer Humphries. om nom nom nom. That is all.
  • I thought Nils Moser was decent, skated pretty well, looked lost at times but that's expected.
  • Drew Owsley was nails. He may be little, but he's quick! And the D did much better in front of him.
  • Our obnoxiously awesome group was discussing the likelihood of Alex Pechurski showing up, and we're in agreement that it's not looking good. He is not on Penguins training camp roster which opens today.
  • Portland is going to be better than anyone thought, sooner than anyone thought.
That's all I can think of now, must get ready for final game of pre-season today when AMS take on Lethbridge.

For what it's worth, my Dad and I are predicting that Portland might be our biggest problem this year.

Sergei Drozd is goign to be special...he's wearing lucky #13, same as Fadden....coincidence?

I think that our starting goalie is goign to be Damyuk (sp?), with Owsley as backup.

it wouldn't surprise me one bit if PDX is the biggest problem.

I would like to see more of Danyluk (?) before I take a definitive position on who will be starting goalie. Also, there's still a slight chance From Russia With Glove will show. I just really really doubt it.

Messier was more obvious down at our end of the ice. He is SO GOOD along the boards and in the corners. Love that kid!

See you in 3 hours!

The goalie will be in Tri Cities this year. One of the Ams owners told me the only reason they took him was that Pitt wanted him playing in North America this year and basically guaranteed the Ams would get him. Just sayin.

@RW13 I hope you're right. But he's still listed on Russian team roster, not in Pittsburgh camp. Yeah, they want him to play in North America but he's not under contract with them. He's not going to give up the money he's making in Russia to come here for a $80 a week stipend. So unless Pens sign him and real quick-like, I'm not gonna hold my breath.

just thought id throw out that its very hypocritical to act like only the chiefs run the ams goalies. ive seen the same move from the tri city team on tokarsks, specifically from asuchak im not condoning what letts did at all and i love pickard but tri also has ran goalies.
