The seconds, minutes, hours go to the almighty dollar
The Regina Pats got their roster down to 26 on Monday by moving four players. . . . Veteran G Linden Rowat, 20, was dropped and the Pats hope to trade him. Rowat was the Pats’ starter in 2007-08 when they won the East Division regular-season title with a 44-22-4-2 record.The AMS website roster now has a number for From Russia With Glove, but I think it's a smokescreen. Look, I'd love to be proven wrong on this one and the kid shows up and is a great goalie. But c'mon. And here's where the title of this post comes in, he's making money in Russia. He's not under contract with Pittsburgh so they can want him to play in North America all they want, doesn't mean it's going to happen. He's not going to come here without a contract for a piddley $80 a week stipend.
If you’re wondering whether the Tri-City Americans might be interested in Rowat, the answer, at least for the next while, is, “No.” . . . They haven’t given up on landing Alexander Pechurski, 19, who was their first pick in the CHL’s 2009 import draft. Even though he is on the early roster of Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the Continental Hockey League, the Americans are holding out hope that they will be able to get clearance to have him join them. . . . The Americans also are quite happy with their three 20-year-olds – F Johnny Lazo, D Brett Plouffe and D Jarrett Toll – so might not be in a hurry to tinker with that.
Then again, I'm not sure Rowat is the best option. He may be the best available option, but at what cost. Which 20 do you give up for him?
I know there are plenty who disagree with me about Pechurski coming/not coming. And that's fine. He may indeed show up. But I am not going to be holding my breath. "The Americans are holding out hope..." doesn't give me a lot of confidence.

Drinnan says the Chiefs sent down Alex Wright; he didn't seem to play too bad in net...maybe make a play for him?
I saw that too. Getting him would involve a trade (whereas Rowat was released) since he's still on PPL. So either you lose a 20 or you give up who knows what.
and yes, Wright isn't that bad at all. Bob would be crazy to not at least inquire about it.
Even if Pechurski doesn't come, I still think we can find a "good" 18-19 y/o goaltender. I wouldn't mess with our 20's for a goaltender unless his name is Chet Pickard. Deserres in Seattle has played well before, although was shaky and hurt last year, but Calvin's moved ahead of him and I'm sure he doesn't want to sit on the bench.
I'm holding out hope to find a another scorer.

@Mr. Spokant--
I agree. Keep 20s in place, though I think scoring will be by committee. And in that case, solve the problem in net first, then scoring.
Or get a scorer. I don't know, you know me, I keep going back and forth :)
"scoring will be by committee"
This. But you know, I mentioned to Mr. Spokant after last weekend's games that I appreciated the fact that without our token snipers, the other players have stopped always deferring to them. ALL of them are shooting (for the most part) instead of looking for YH, Fadden, Pro or Reese to pass the puck off to. And it's paying off!
KEEP OUR 20S!
@Spokant--
I think it helps having new coach that also doesn't rely on snipers to do it all. Or so it seems at this point anyways.
