"Don't look now..."
Don’t look now but the Americans are 6-2-0-0 and have won four in a row. (Drinnan)Oh you can go ahead and look. It's impressive.
And when the opposition's scoreboard says you made a "Great Save!" then you better believe it buster. More from everyone's favorite Rocket's P-B-P guy:
The Tr- City Americans are a team that capitalizes on mistakes. TheKelowna Rockets found that out first hand in a 4-2 loss Tuesday night at Prospera Place. Jarrett Toll scored once and added an assist as the Americans won for the 4th straight time while handing the Rockets their first loss in 7 games. That's right my friends, even the people who run the scoreboard (and those who call the game) in Kelowna believe in Drew Owsley.
The best goal of the game came when Americans forward JohnnyLazo used his great speed by beating two defenseman before making a forehand deke to beat goaltender Adam Brown. Lazo's goal made it 4-1 for the visitors.
The save of the game came when Americans goaltender Drew Owsley stacked his pads making a magnificent save off of Rockets forward Stepan Novotny. The save was made when the Americans were holding a 3-1 lead. You don't often see saves like that, but the desperation play was recognized by Prospera Place video screen when the letters came across saying "Great Save".
I've only seen Owsley twice, but from what I've witnessed he can carry the mail. I questioned the Americans goaltending at the start of the year, but not any more.

It was mentioned in one of the liveblogs from this road trip that there was some concern that all our scoring was coming from the Hughesman-Lazo-Shinnimin line. Which isn't necessarily bad, they're off to a great start. But last night showed that there really is depth to this team, offensively. Scoring came from Reddick (about freaking time!), Drozd, and even from the defense which is always drop dead sexy.
I said in the beginning that offense was going to be by committee this season and that is proving to be the case. Some committee members need to step up (though not for a lack of trying). I'd like to see some points from the Macek-Messier-whoever combination. He's not playing every night but when he does he's making an impact, but I would love to see some more goals from Asuchak. I know, I'm just getting greedy now.

Should we talk about Toronto? Toronto sports teams: Providing soul-crushing year-round. I went off on an unorganized ramble in the comments section over at Sports and the City. But then I found someone who summed it up even better. Check out the analysis from Jenn Casey over at National Passtime. The rest of the post she has over there is a good read as well.
Another good read about "blogger relations" can be found over at PRBreakfast Club. If you are not a blogger, it's not so relevant. But it does bring in the constant issue of bloggers vs. main-stream media. There are bloggers who do a more professional job than many of the actual professionals. There are some who give bloggers everywhere a bad name. I like that from a PR standpoint, the author realizes it's best to work with the bloggers, not try to block them. It's something that's not going to go away--people with opinions and keyboards--so how to have a working, positive relationship is essential. I've been very fortunate that I have not had problems with the team over anything posted here. I know other bloggers for other WHL teams who have. And it's unfortunate. I know there are people from the front office who have at least stumbled upon this site. I'm sure Annie Fowler has even come across it. It has never been my intention to replace the team PR or the local media, but to have some kind of working relationship, even if that means sortof avoiding each other (which is kinda how I do it now).
HOLY VERBAL DIARRHEA. I meant to just say I've taken a break from the shitty Leafs till they win me back, emphasis on WIN.
Bkblades also has hope that the Leafs will improve, he's not ready to dump them yet.

Finally (for now), huge thanks to everyone who comes over for the liveblogs. It's fun times and a way for AMS fans to come together for laughs and hockey. Stats tell me there's a lot of lurkers and that's great too. It's greatly appreciated!

Alright this is probably a stupid question but I have to ask:
"The Tr- City.."
Is Tri a swear in Canada, do they have tri-sexuals or something?
Also, if Owsley can "carry the mail" can I start calling him the Postmaster General?
in all seriousness, the "Tr- City" business is all my fault, I had to fuck around with the html coding (since Bartool uses Blogger too, it copied and pasted his coding) and I remember editing that part, hit delete once too many times I suppose.
The Postmaster General is a great nickname. I'd make shirts of it if I didn't already have 2 Owsley shirts.
I'm totally stealing the Postmaster General nickname for Drew.
Ahhh ... nothing like a game of 'strip shootout.
