Martyniuk traded to Regina
in case you haven't seen already, from amshockey.com
Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has traded the rights to 18-year-old goaltender Brett Martyniuk (pro. Mart-nuk) to the Regina Pats for future considerations. The move reduces Tri-City's roster to 24 players (14 forwards, 8 defensemen and 2 goaltenders).Best of luck Marty, you deserve to play a lot and be successful! Thank you for your contributions as a Tri-City American!
Martyniuk, listed at 5'9 175 pounds, has appeared in 7 games this season for Tri-City, going 1-1 with a 2.73 goals against average, a 0.860 save percentage and one shutout. Originally listed by Tri-City in September of 2007, the Winnipeg-native has appeared in 22 WHL games in his career, with a career record of 8-4 to go along with a 2.57 goals against average and a 0.890 save percentage. Before making the jump to the WHL, Martyniuk was named the Manitoba Midget Hockey League's 2007-08 Goaltender of the Year while a member of the Winnipeg Thrashers.
"With the arrival of (Alex) Pechurskiy, there simply is not enough playing time to go around," explained Tory. "We felt that it was important to find him somewhere he could compete for a job in the league. With Regina's injury situation, they were willing to give Marty a shot."

I sincerely hope Brett gets significant ice time as a result of this move. I believe he deserves a chance to play and develop. I know I am not alone when I say I will miss seeing him in an Ams jersey. Good luck, Marty!
Best of luck in Regina Marty!!
what a crock of shit. totally unproven guy gets lucky behind the ams playing at 100% last night, and everyone talking like owsley couldn't have rested all along? like marty wasn't outstanding last year (and what few times he got to play this year)? wtf?
i hope marty takes regina to the eastern conference finals.
I agree normalooking. Totally jumped the gun there with one game under the guys belt but he was considered something special before he even left Russia. I think in the end, although Marty is not with the ams anymore it was the only way it was going to work out with Marty still getting some sort of benefit. Atleast in Regina he has a chance to be a starter in the WHL rather then with the ams where he would have been reassigned and most likely never had a starting spot due to him and Drew being the same age. I hope he finds success and helps get Regina back on a winning streak!
