The weekend that was
So I don't know about you, but I had an amazing weekend. Friday night teddy bear toss and a win. Then went out for celebration with my favoritest people on the whole planet (minus one, less than three Scotty Wazz)! The Bishes (yes, capitalized, our group is now a proper noun) banded together to get me a hockey stick for my birthday which was then autographed by the whole team last night at the skate! Srsly, these Bishes rule. Be so completely jealous that you're not one of us. Or not.
Last night was a great game against Swift Current. Full 60 minute effort. Ok, more like 59 minutes, that first minute of the 3rd was...lacking. But still
This Patrick Holland kid, watch out. Two totally sweet unassisted goals. He's got some skill. I don't know if he just had an ON night or it just seemed that way because he got a ton of ice time, but whatever, I'll take it. Actually, I'm pretty sure he was ON which is why he got so much ice time.
"Jim has given me more ice time lately and I've been playing pretty well the last couple of games," Holland said. "I was with (Justin) Feser and (Neal) Prokop today and they put pressure on them that helped me be able to score."Also kicking ass was Riley McIntosh. He's been better this season overall, but since learning Mikaela believes in him so strongly, he's been absolutely dynamite.
"I think with age I feel more comfortable in the lineup," McIntosh said. "Things seem to be going my way a little bit more."I thought Coach would put in Martyniuk against the Broncos, and I feel bad that he's not getting any time in net unless they're getting shellacked. That being said, Drew was his amazing self, once again.
"It's pretty easy on me when we score six goals," Owsley said. "Thirty wins is pretty cool."HUGE thanks to Drew for letting me photograph his mask last night during the skate, I really appreciate it!
Let's also give some props to Jordan Messier, he was very long overdue for a goal and he's been working his ass off. Though I'm hesitant to compliment him too much since he was giving me shit about wearing Scotty Wazz's jersey. No, it's not a Winter Hawks or even Chicago Blackhawks sweater, is the Chesapeake Chiefs from the boy's playing days :)

In case you missed it, there's a nice article in the Winnipeg Sun about the large number of Manitobans on the AMS roster. Sister and I were behind a car with Manitoba plates going to Red Robin after the game Friday and I said "I wonder who's from Manitoba?" and all she said was "ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm" yeah, it was not the most intelligent moment of my life.

Yes! Mestery had two solid games in a row. He actually threw a good solid check to put a player on his ass. Made passes to team mates instead of ALWAYS dumping it out off the glass. Took some hard shots when the opportunity came up instead of dumping it in the corner. No game changing mistakes. Well done!!
I completely agree that Macek has taken his game to another level the last 4 or 5 games. The kid has deceptive speed. 3 strides and he blowing around D-men like they're standing still.
Holland is going to be a beauty in the next couple of years. He has come leaps and bounds with his confidence with the puck. He's got moves, no doubt.
Moser, I think, has potential, but I've noticed that his conditioning may not be where it needs to be. granted, he is young still.
As has been well documented, I don't believe there is any other player that can out work Prokop and Wigosh. Put those two on the ice together and the puck is not leaving the opposition's end.
Sutherland...this kids is following in Toll's shoes. Quietly goes about his business of defending and even has a bit of offensive upside. As his confidence goes up he really starts to lay the body on as well.
Big note here... absolutely LOVED Reddick scrapping to stand up for a team mate. Holy shit!! When was the last time you saw that out of him? He scored major points with me on that one. That is what you want to see outta one of you "A's".
Castro had 3 shifts. 1 in the first, and 2 in the last 5 minutes of the game. Why not put a rookie in to get some experience? Waste of a lineup spot IMHO.
Last note; PP still broken. There doesn't seem to be any creativity. I saw one set play run. And why, in the name of God, do they have Reddick or Macek on the point? Neither have a cannon, and they don't really run anything from back there. Cannot figure that one out.
BTW...I want in on the Bishes thing, lol!

I've questioned the use of Reddick on the power play all damn season. Unfortunately, Coach hasn't learned to ask me what I think. Go figure.

Riley McIntosh has wormed his gorgeous little self right into my heart. I totally believe in Riley. I lurve Riley! Okay, not like I lurve my hockey bf, but he's getting there.
My weekend was equally amazing, DS. The whole Taylor Procyshen being at the game things was proof positive that it was the best weekend EVAR.
@Harp - Well, you DID say you liked Messier, like, a lot, so I guess you've passed the first test.

Is there any kind of secret handshake or initiation into the Puck Milf Bishes club? Of course if you started allowing in us boys, you would have to drop the MILF part....
