My running commentary of the game

What coach said in pre-game:

Spokane's coming of big win against Everett, on a hot streak right now.  Mitch Wahl has been outstanding which makes them dangerous.  Haven't lost 3 in a row, successful teams stay out of a skid.  Takes your veteran players to be confident and lead the team.  Would like more out of defense and more out of net.  Gotta play better in front of goalies, but gotta get big saves.  Coach says Plouffe playing his best hockey of the season.  Losing him in the game last night with fight made it tough.  Other guys filling in for Kruise, haven't seen anyone really grab the reigns and take charge though.

Riley a scratch again, Mike Brown suspended tonight for boarding last night, Kennedy and Reddick out.

Wilgosh-Moser-Macek combo.  Wilgs hittin' posts.  At least he's shooting?  Interesting line combination though.  "Gaping net, should be 1-1"  ugh.  More posts.

AMS outshooting 10-1 so far in the 1st, about 6 minutes in.

I wasn't going to keep a running commentary, I was just going to take some notes, but I'm in such a habit of typing while listening, so I'll put that "Read More" function to good use, I'll go on with my rambling after the jump.

From the sounds of it, Mason Wilgosh is on FIRE tonight.  I love it!

Cowan drills Schmidt in the face, Schitty gets 2 minutes for embellishment.  SHOCKING.  What did I say about drawing attention to himself?  Jeezus.  Stop wasting your talent.  "What a show put on there by Owsley"  hell yes, that's my owl!

4-on-3 power play.  Holy crap, puck in behind Reid, but kept out.  UGH.

The MLM is all at the game but Tweeting it:

Spokant says: "I propose a trade.  FRWG for Reid."  I could go for that.  Though he'd obviously have to be backup to Drew.  Jussayin.

Westy says he doesn't imagine coaches very happy, too wide open a period.  Also said Drew was outstanding on PK stopping a minimum of 6 very quality chances there in that hustle.

FRWG let in 2 softies on 7 shots, first 2 last night was in 5 shots.  At least coach pulled him this time.  

2nd period

"Like a cat across the crease Owsley makes the save" Americans start out with quick penalty so on PK already.

Beach hits the crossbar and it goes in.  shit.  "Owsley dropped a bit too soon there".

Spokant:  "Mestery = not guarding the back door on the pk"  well balls.

"Americans in a bit of a funk right now, it's a matter of how you come out of it".  no kidding.  

"Reid is creating rebounds, he's having trouble with the puck".  I hope someone besides Westy sees this and the boys can capitalize on that info.

"Mestery saves a goal on that one!" so I guess he's working on redeeming himself :)

Schmidt penalty.  Spokant: "Perfect time for a penalty, Schmidt.  I'm so sick of him."  heh, you and me both.  "Sick glove save there by Owsley".  oh hell yeah. Killed it off.

wow, that 2nd period went by very quickly.  Intermission.

3rd period

Chiefs coming out on fire.  "Things getting loose at both ends."  That's what she said?  

Wahl to the box, let's go Americans, capitalize!!   "Messier missed the net, how did that not go in?!"  because this team has had no luck lately.  Chiefs kill the penalty.  Lazo crossbar.  "Americans pressuring now"  I like the sounds of that.

TYLER SCHMIDT TAKES ANOTHER PENALTY.  Holding.  Way to help your team battle back into this one.  Killed it, thankfully.

7 minutes left in regulation, down by one.  I'll say it Westy, nervous time.  

Under 3 minutes to go.

"What a flurry by the Americans and Reid doesn't dent".  FAAACCCKKK

1:25 left, can't get Drew out of there for extra attacker.  1:00.  He's heading out now.  

35.6 seconds left.  Timeout.  

19 to go.  Icing with 8.3 seconds left.  Change on the clock, 10.1 seconds left.

FESER SCORES HOLY SHITBALLS!!!!  1 SECOND REMAINING.  Goal goes to Shinnimin.  They're reviewing it, but it's apparently pretty obviously a goal.  Trying to decide who's goal it is.  Yep, "it's a goal baby"  Drink!

Putting time back up to 3.2 seconds.  "Crash the net and tie the game".  Hell yes boys.  Obviously, going to OT tonight. 

Apparently they gave the goal to Lazo.  Playing in the rink "Holding out for a Hero" one of the most kick ass songs evarrr.

"The little man who plays big" LOL Lazo.  "Americans were like a dog on a bunch of bones" I love Craig West.

OVERTIME

Spokant: "HOLY SHIT SHINNY IS THE MOTHER FUCKING KING OF FUCKING EVERYTHING HOCKEY AGAIN!!!"  nice.  love her.

"OH WHAT A SAVE BY OWSLEY!! THAT IS ABSOLUTELY A PLAY OF THE WEEK."

2:23 left in OT.  Shots 45-40 Americans.  Holy shit.  "Gotta figure he's one of the stars tonight the way he's been playing" talking about Owsley.  One minute left in OT.  Aaaaaaaaaaaaaannnd Kyle Beach with the hattrick.  Puck under Drew and it popped out.  Shitttt.  He made the save, spun around, and came off the puck.  AMS get a point, and a great effort, but dammit dammit dammit.
