Player recap--Jordan Messier

A big "woooohoooooooooo" from Jordan after scoring a goal against Vancouver.

Like Macek, Jordan has a ton of potential, just needs to find his game on a consistent basis.  He's big, coach wants him to go to the net hard and use that body to get in the goalie's kitchen.  He's very streaky.  When he's off his game I think he grips the stick even harder which in turn continues to keep him off his game.  When he gets lucky, he loosens that grip and good things happen.  I don't know the kid well, but I bet he's the type to put a lot of pressure on himself to be successful and to score a lot of goals.  Hell, I'm sure they all put pressure on themselves.

Also like Macek, I expect this coming season to be a big one for Messier.  He made great strides this season with his play and development.  He needs to model his game after Neal Prokop's--being a big body in front of the net and crashing the net on the forecheck.  Based on things both coaches have said on post-game shows, that exactly what they expect from him.
