Update from Drinnan

Despite the rumours, Bob Tory, the governor and general manager of the Tri-City Americans, says he hasn’t been contacted by the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers, who are working to fill front-office vacancies with their new AHL affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons. . . . Tory, who -- believe it or not! -- is on vacation at the moment, is busy planning for the Americans’ 2010-11 season, one in which they will be chasing after their fourth straight U.S. Division title. The Americans reached the WHL final this season, where they were swept by the Calgary Hitmen. . . . Tri-City will have G Drew Owsley, who is coming off a breakout season, returning, along with nine of its top 10 forwards. . . . Look for Tory to add a defenceman or two, perhaps getting one in the import draft, where he almost certainly will exercise both of his selections.  (Taking Note)

I thought the same thing, Mikaela.

At least the Americans got beat by a legitimately better team. Calgary got beat by Brandon in the second most important game of their hockey lives.
