So about that history lesson...

The other day after the game against Prince Albert I was interested in learning more about their secondary logo.  As you read here, I didn't get much any information from the team except that it was their old logo.

Well fine, if the team isn't going to give me much, I'll turn to the next best resource, Gregg Drinnan.  Here's what he was able to find out for me:
In the 1970s and early 1980s, when the Raiders were in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, they didn't really have a logo. Their jerseys had RAIDERS on the fronts but that was about it. . . . When the franchise moved to the WHL, they held a public contest and a Mrs. Redekopp came up with the sheik or whatever it is supposed to be. Somehow, the board of directors of the day chose it. . . . That logo lived until 1996 when it was replaced by the pirate logo that is still in use today.
Thank you Gregg, much appreciated!!

So... basically it means nothing. But hey, we're doing dragons for Rockets and abominable snowmen for Ice so what difference does it make?

Nothing particularly pertaining to the city of PA, nor the actual Prince Albert, but still kinda cool.

LOL Rockets with a dragon is just bizarre, if though I know why they do it, still wacky.

even though, not if though

It's not a dragon, it's Ogopogo! It's essentially a loch-ness type monster from Okanagan Lake in BC. I think it's awesome!

umm...pretty much the same thing. Besides, Spokant knows that, but it's waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy easier to write "dragon" than "Ogopogo"

besides, really the point is why call themselves the Rockets but have that logo.

(yes I know it's because they're the old Tacoma Rockets, moved to Kelowna and kept the name but adopted local legend as logo)

Ogopogo is a lot more fun to say though...

Personally, I like saying they have an Ogopogologo.
