Trade

Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has acquired 19-year-old defenseman Derek Ryckman from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for a 4th round pick in the 2012 bantam draft.

Ryckman, listed at 6’4 and 205 pounds, has spent his entire WHL career with the Hurricanes, totaling six goals, 29 points and 211 penalty minutes in 164 career games. The Red Deer, Alberta native had a career-best five goals and 18 points last season and comes to Tri-City with two points in 11 games with the ‘Canes this season. Ryckman, who Lethbridge originally selected with their 6th round (119th overall) pick in 2007, currently serves as one of the team’s alternate captains.

“Derek is an experienced, stay-at-home defenseman who adds a physical dimension to our club,” exclaimed Tory. “He brings size, depth and leadership to our club and we are excited to add him to our line-up.” (Americans)
Interesting. I thought the D was doing pretty well. Wonder what this means for the current roster, I'd have to guess (it's only a guess) this means moving/re-assigning Hamonic and/or Guenther. Aw hell, I have no idea.
