Game Day @ Everett
oh goodie, another road game in Everett. Those are always SO exciting.
The Americans are still missing some important bodies--McCue still out, Chynoweth still out, now Dallman out. Dolly got three game suspension for the goalie interference the other night. I've seen the video, he let up and tried not to hit the guy, there wasn't the intent, not sure what the league was thinking on that one. Oh well, what's done is done.
In the meantime, the Ams have called up D-man Parker Wotherspoon from from Fraser Valley Hawks AAA Midget and winger Justin Marrick from Okanagen Rockets AAA Midget.
Hiller said they are bringing in two affiliate players to avoid shifting versatile defenseman Drydn Dow to forward.I think that's a good problem to have (all things considered, maybe "good" isn't the right word) because not only can Dow play forward, but he can log a lot of minutes doing so. McCue, Chynoweth, and Dallman are guys who take a lot of shifts, that's hard to replace. I mean, c'mon, it's not like Walter's going to get to take over all of Dallman's shifts. Having Dow being able to do that if need be is a good thing. Like Hiller said, however, he IS extremely valuable on D so it's not likely an easy decision. But I think Filbrandt has been doing decent, and I've been impressed with Wotherspoon when I've seen him play before. Luckily, both opponents this weekend--Everett and Seattle--are "easier" teams to play against. And maybe "easier" isn't the word, but you know what I mean. It's not Kelowna or Portland so even banged up and moving guys around, they still have a good chance to put together a good game and hopefully a win. At this point, personally, I don't care as long as they work hard and no one else gets hurt (or suspended).
Defenseman Parker Wotherspoon (Fraser Valley Hawks) and winger Justin Marreck (Okanagan Rockets) will join the Americans for the Everett and Seattle games.
“We might have to bring Drydn up, but he so valuable on defense I’m not sure we can take him out of there,” Hiller said. “We still have to figure that out.” (Herald)
I'll have the liveblog up and running, but be warned--these games against Everett are boring and there's rarely much to talk about. Yay?
